Garlic Butter Flatbreads with Parsley Garnish

INGREDIENTS

– 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 3/4 cup water

– 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

– 4 cloves garlic, minced

– Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

– Additional salt, to taste

PREPARATION

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

Gradually add in the water, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for a minute or so until it’s smooth. Let the dough rest for about 15 minutes.

Divide the dough into four equal portions and roll each piece into a thin round (about 1/8 inch thick).

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook each flatbread for about 1-2 minutes on one side, or until you see bubbles forming, then flip and cook the other side for an additional minute. Stack the cooked flatbreads and wrap them in a clean towel to keep them warm.

In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant. Brush this garlic butter generously over each flatbread.

Sprinkle with chopped parsley and a pinch of salt to taste before serving.

VARIATIONS & TIPS:

– Feeling adventurous? Add some grated Parmesan or Asiago cheese to the top of the flatbreads right after brushing them with garlic butter for a cheesy twist.

– Whole wheat flour can be substituted for all-purpose for a nuttier, heartier flavor.

– If you’re short on time, store-bought pizza dough can stand in for homemade dough in a pinch. Just roll it out thin and follow the cooking directions as usual.

– For a touch of heat, a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter can make a spicy version that’s sure to be a hit.

– Finally, these are best served immediately, but if you need to reheat, wrap them in foil and pop them in the oven at 350°F for about 5 minutes, or until heated through. Enjoy e

very last bite, folks!
